DNV Energy division seeks a Wind Energy Engineer to join our Brazil Wind Engineering and Due Diligence (WE&DD) team. This role is to enhance the capabilities and increase resources of the WE&DD team, which oversees Technical Due diligence (TDD) for project financing and merger and acquisition (M&A) processes and Owner's Engineering and Construction Monitoring services for wind energy projects.The successful candidate will be self-motivated and enthusiastic about renewables and will be able to contribute to the team from an early stage. This position is based out of our DNV location in Porto Alegre, Brazil. What You'll DoPerformance of Technical Due Diligence – This requires understanding what is needed for a proper technical risk assessment of a renewable project, including:Assessment of Balance of Plant (civil and electrical infrastructure) Wind technology and site suitability assessment (climatic, acoustic, ground conditions, Technical analysis of project contracts. Amongst others: Construction contracts (turbine supply and balance of plant) Operation and maintenance contracts Grid Connection Agreements Power Purchase Agreements Assessment of project construction schedule Review of project authorizations, licenses, or land securement contracts Evaluation of technical inputs for the Project's Financial Model NOTE: Detailed experience in one or several of the above aspects would be valued (., civil or electrical design, contract negotiations, regulatory aspects related to interconnection or PPAs, Project management of small/medium/large projects (from 5MW to 1000MW) –Coordination of a team of specialists (locally and internationally) to provide top-level technical advisory and deliver high-quality reports, according to the tasks detailed above for a Technical Due Diligence Owner's and/or Lender's Engineer (also known as Independent Engineer) during the pre-construction and construction phase of the projects:technical Due Diligence reports for support Project Financing or M&A decisions Construction monitoring to assess construction progress and control the quality of the work Monthly construction meeting organization with the contractor(s) Approval of contractual payment schedule condition precedents Approval of take-over condition precedents and punch list issuance Commercial support (awareness of market trends, participation in industry conferences, proposal management, and winning new business) Technology scouting and market watch Assistance with general group activitiesWhat Is RequiredBachelor's Degree required. Bachelors in engineering. Minimum of 1-2 years of previous experience within the wind renewable energy industry or wind renewable energy taught course modules required Understanding of enforceable norms and regulations within the renewable industry Knowledge of the general energy market, particularly the renewable energy market in Brazil. Knowledge of other Latin America energy markets will be appreciated, particularly Mexico and Chile Experience developing, designing, reviewing, and/or supervising renewable projects, including technology, civil and electrical infrastructure works, and/or grid interconnection. Experience in other kinds of energy projects would also be valuable Excellent English and Portuguese language skills (both in writing and speaking) are required. Knowledge of Spanish will be strongly appreciated Proficient in the most popular computer programs Ability to work independently, be a self–starter, and be energetic Structured and service-minded approach, always focusing on delivering high-quality results Willingness to travel up to 20% of the time, domestic and international.
