Commodities Research Intern - São Paulo A new and exciting internship opportunity has arisen in São Paulo to be part of ED&F Man's global research team. The role would be suitable for an Economics student in the last 2 years of graduation. The successful candidate will form part of a research team responsible for proprietary fundamental research and data analysis to support ED&F Man's physical sugar trading teams. The person will work with data supporting regional supply/demand, price, weather and shipment analysis, whilst maintaining strong contacts within the Sugar industry. Working with our specialist research teams in Brazil, India, Singapore and USA, the candidate will benefit from the department's global reach. Strong English communication skills as well as data-handling and advanced Excel skills are essential. ED&F Man is a market leader in commodity trading with a strong reputation for research. This role will concentrate on providing crucial information to the business about strategic market developments in the industry, and on producing creative ideas and solutions linked to the changing Brazilian and global sugar trading environment. Responsibilities: Maintain and develop our in-house database of price, shipments, weather and crop data; Produce regular written reports for internal and external publications. This will include collating new stories for regional markets as well as macro environment; Monitor and analyse key market drivers and new developments in order to develop insightful assessment of the global sugar and ethanol market; Generate timely and ad-hoc updates to the trading teams to strengthen the commercial position of the business; Help maintain global and regional supply/demand models, price models and trade balances; Analysis and interpretation of developments in the physical and futures markets, weather trends, regulatory and trading environment and ethanol market; Take a proactive approach in supporting the traders and other stakeholders in their market analysis needs and requests. Required Skills and Experience: Undergraduate student in the last 2 years of Economics, Statistics, Business or similar. Advanced English language knowledge is required. Excellent written and verbal communication skills required, with the ability to convey facts and ideas clearly; Data and excel skills, with an ability to analyse fundamentals and non-fundamental data to drive trade recommendations; Advanced MS-Excel user is required. Power BI is advantageous; A keen enthusiasm for research, economics and agricultural commodities, as the role will focus largely on the management, analysis and dissemination of proprietary data; Self-motivated, curious and organised with attention to detail and goal-oriented; And as an ever-friendly reminder: Researchers have found that men apply to roles when they meet an average of 60% of the criteria.
