Job Description: The candidate will be on-site supporting the manufacturing and development of a new drivetrain component. This component will be built and tested at Caterpillar's Brazil Plant. This is a completely new design and it employs new technology that has not been used before at Caterpillar. The product group would like to accelerate the production schedule and this candidate will help make that happen. What you will do: Main Tasks expected of the candidate: This candidate will work in partnership with Caterpillar Brazil (CBL) Manufacturing to ensure that a robust assembly and test process is developed for this product. This candidate will champion Caterpillar's quality initiatives and build a process that will achieve a zero defect product. This zero defect culture will require innovation and new ideas because the current processes have yet to achieve these lofty goals. The candidate will be responsible for checking all manufacturing documentation and standard work. The candidate will become the on-site technical expert that can review assembly and test results. The candidate is expected to champion all in-plant validation (IPV) tasks and make sure they are adequately tied to the facilities PFMEA's. Other tasks expected of the candidate include but are not limited to: Support resolution of CPI and NPI issues using structured problem-solving methods. Support NPI/CPI builds and teardowns, as needed Collaborate with manufacturing teams locally and others worldwide to drive zero defect focused design and process collaboration Actively participate in component and system DFMEAs and PFMEAs as needed Communicate project status to supporting teams, project stakeholders, customers, and global manufacturing facilities What you will have: ? Products and Services: Knowledge of engineering, supply chain, and manufacturing of how to take a component from concept to production. Technical Excellence: Knowledge of the component and the various manufacturing and test methods; with the ability to develop and provide solutions to significant technical challenges. Influencing Through Expertise: Knowledge of effective influencing tactics and strategies; ability to use these to deepen own expertise and impact or challenge decisions within and outside own organization. Project Management: Knowledge of effective project management strategies and tactics; ability to plan, organize, monitor, and control projects, ensuring efficient utilization of technical and administrative resources to achieve project objectives. Team Management: Knowledge of effective team building techniques; ability to form relationships with people and manage a program across a multi-disciplinary organization. Requirements Analysis: Knowledge of tools, methods, and techniques of requirement analysis; ability to elicit, analyze and record required business functionality and non-functionality requirements to ensure the success of a system or software development project. Troubleshooting Technical Problems: Knowledge of troubleshooting approaches, tools and techniques; ability to anticipate, detect and resolve technical problems in a manufacturing environment. Product Design and Development: Knowledge of product features; ability to design, build, and develop a new product, technology, or service from concept through to production. Basic requirements: - Bachelor's degree - Pre Advanced English Top Candidates will also have: - On machine or lab testing experience with drivetrain systems - Manufacturing experience developing robust processes incorporating in-process validation activities. - Formal training in Six Sigma, Lean, or other engineering process improvement programs.
