ABOUT THE ROLE Take a moment an watch this video by Matyas: https://www.loom.com/share/3c768014dbec47928c51f11afef11926 -Working closely with the product owner, you will lead the greenfield development of a web application designed to enable InPlanet to scale operations to billions of tons of carbon dioxide removal. This pivotal role is tailored to a versatile fullstack developer with proficiency in both frontend and backend development. We are seeking an individual who not only possesses technical expertise but is also comfortable teasing out user requirements, working in a fast moving environment (ERW is a relatively new space with significant R&D investment). You will be closely involved in building the software engineering team – as the senior developer there will be a need for you to mentor and provide guidance to the other developers in the team. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Lead the greenfield development of a sophisticated web platform. Work closely with the product owner, senior designer, and key stakeholders in the steering group (internal and external). Guide the software engineering team to write clean, efficient, and maintainable code following industry best practices and modern development methodologies. Oversee the entire software development lifecycle including design, development, testing, deployment, and continuous improvement. Stay up-to-date with the latest software development trends , tools, and technologies, and share knowledge with the product team. Collaborate with InPlanet's Systems and Productivity Partner to ensure seamless integration of software solutions with existing systems and tools. YOU CAN BE A ROCK-STAR IF YOU HAVE Passion for sustainability, climate change mitigation, and technology-driven solutions for positive impact. Strong track record in managing and presenting complex data within web environments, with a portfolio showcasing previous work. Core proficiency in JavaScript or Typescript – familiarity with Python and R is a bonus. Experience with Next.js or similar framework for server-side rendering and efficient frontend development. Demonstrated experience with web mapping libraries such as LeafletJS. Experience building offline capable progressive web apps (PWAs). Familiarity building multilingual applications. Proficiency deploying web applications to a major cloud platform (we plan to use GCP). Strong understanding of different data architectures, including NoSQL and SQL databases ( e.g. PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Firestore, BigQuery). Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot complex issues. Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment. Experience of Agile working in a startup environment is a plus.
