Software Engineer Ii, Fulfillment Foundations Backend

About the Role: Collaborates with stakeholders within the team to build and maintain backend services and solutions to support user-facing products, downstream services, or infrastructure tools and platforms used across Uber. About the Team: The Fulfillment org builds and operates a set of Foundational Technologies and APIs upon which the business is built. Our platform is at the heart of the core trip workflow at Uber and directly impacts the cost and speed of new product launches. The Fulfillment Foundations team builds, maintains and optimizes the foundational services/frameworks that are used for implementing Uber's core fulfillment flow for both Mobility and Delivery businesses. This team owns and operates some of the most critical Services/APIs at Uber including Realtime Marketplace transactional store on Google Spanner, Real Time Indexing/Search store on Lucene, Realtime Events/Metrics platform, Realtime Rules Engine, among others. We directly support all the business verticals within Uber and the services/platforms are used by hundreds of engineers globally across the company daily. Our services scale up to 1M+ QPS at peak. Minimum qualifications : Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or related field OR 3-year full-time Software Engineering work experience, WHICH INCLUDES 3-year total technical software engineering experience in one or more of the following areas: Programming language (e.G. C, C++, Java, Python, or Go) Experience with Search Technologies such as Elastic Search, Solr or Lucene is a plus. Note the 3-year total of specialized software engineering experience may have been gained through education and full-time work experience, additional training, coursework, research, or similar (OR some combination of these). The year of specialized experience is not necessarily in addition to the years of Education & full-time work experience indicated.
