What you will doThe Principal Scientist role involves supporting various projects, such as qualifying new packaging to enhance cost efficiency and supply chain resilience. Responsibilities include addressing technical challenges related to packaging in marketed products at manufacturing sites, leading cross-functional teams, developing business cases, offering technical guidance, and reporting on project metrics and milestones. The Principal Scientist will play a key role in conducting Packaging Equivalency studies on a global scale for alternate supplier qualifications. Serving as a technical subject matter expert (SME) for packaging components in Consumer products, the Principal Scientist is expected to approach projects with a creative yet practical mindset, delivering results and meeting business objectives. This role requires independent initiative in driving and proposing technical resolutions for packaging related initiatives impacting global qualifications, collaborating with suppliers and internal teams such as Source, R&D, Quality and manufacturing sites etc. within specified timelines. Key Responsibilities·Lead a portfolio of projects relating to alternate packaging components and material qualifications.·Partner with Packaging upstream material innovation leads to bring additional value to our products executing material qualifications of these new materials (i.e support different solutions on sustainability field, and collaborate with Packaging to deliver unmet need to consumers)·Assess impact of changes in packaging components and materials on different types of formulations impacting consumer portfolio.·Execute technical aspects of projects, report metrics and interact with/lead cross-functional teams to implement projects.·Resolve complex technical issues and pursue innovative solutions in the areas of packaging, sustainability, and consumer insights. ·Be the Subject Matter Expert with in-depth knowledge of materials and processes used in construction and manufacturing of cosmetic packaging (Post Consumer Recycled Resin (PCR), Extrusion/Injection molding and Dispensing systems (airless, pumps))·Knowledge of external vendor ecosystem and capabilities and new packaging industry trends is preferred.·Streamline communications globally to effectively execute project plans for packaging related tasks as a technical SME.·Work hand in hand with R&D Packaging team, to stablish area of priorities and also suppliers to build partnership.QualificationsWhat we are looking forRequired Qualifications·B.S with 6+ years of professional experience, M.S/Ph.D. with 3+ years of professional experience.·Degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry or a related Science field is required; Advanced degree is preferred.·At least 5 years of proven experience in Cosmetic/Personal Care, OTC, Food or related industry is required.·Solid understanding of a broad spectrum of packaging materials, structures, components, and related conversion processes is required.·Advanced English.·Ability to partner and lead effectively across functions and functional levels is required.·Ability to prioritize multiple constantly evolving priorities with minimal direction is required.·Strong leadership and project management skills; excellent communication and interpersonal skills.·Ability to think creatively and strategically to identify new market opportunities and drive innovation.·Ability to work independently, take initiative, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.·Function as project leader to build project timelines, milestones, and deliverables, and put contracts in place through coordination with legal and business development team.·Build partnerships Internally and with External Labs/Institutions to develop testing capabilities for Packaging related qualifications.·Excellent oral and written presentation and good communication skills are required. Desired Qualifications·Experience in packaging line trials and package testing knowledge is Preferred.·Experience in plastic materials, fossil, non-fossil, bio-based and bio-degradable polymers is Preferred.·A strong focus on sustainability and eCommerce packaging is preferred.·Willingness to travel domestically and internationally is preferred.·Experience in leading global projects or working globally is preferred.
