Lead detailed multidisciplinary engineering, construction support and ramp-up support for a megaproject (>US$1B) at least once, preferably multiple times. Whether in an EPCM or as an Owner Manager Engineering team using the EPCM model;
Already living in Brazil, or being able to move to Brazil in 2021 and live in Belo Horizonte for 3 years. The location for the first year after project approval will be Belo Horizonte, and then on a fly in fly out basis to the project site in Piaui;
Has the depth of technical and engineering capacity to do as well as lead, as is required in a small team like Piaui Niquel;
Familiar with and has used contemporary data-centric design tools and methodologies (3D P&IDs, data-driven, etc.).
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Optimize policies and define engineering, quality assurance and control and equipment standards, procedures and guidelines to enable Piaui Niquel projects and studies;
Communicate, train, counsel and audit the owner s engineering and EPCM, construction, testing, commissioning and operations teams to ensure that engineering systems and processes are understood and consistently and effectively by all staffing and contracting partners;
Define engineering needs for all goods and services for projects;
Define and deploy a contemporary, digital, data-centric approach to information design and management, including intelligent P&IDs, engineering schedules/lists, and 3D design that enables engineering and operational information to be centrally collated, assured for accuracy, and then used for all drawings, models, lists, operational entries and other purposes;
Initiate, negotiate, execute, manage and control the contracting of engineering services required by projects and studies;
Direct and perform governance over EPCM and Studies management service providers as they perform engineering design, documentation and quality control on behalf of Piaui Niquel;
Provide effective engineering advice and support as required. Work as Chief Engineer to define problems and solutions to enable the project and operations to be a success;
Implement an effective engineering and technical management process for the change process;
Lead the risk management program to control technical and engineering risks. Define and ensure that engineering controls for safety, health, project and operational risks are effectively implemented;
Provide support to enable effective reporting of project implementation and performance trends (quality, cost and time);
Resolve problems to ensure engineering solutions allow the project to be delivered as planned.
